AMD Processors: Athlon Neo | Turion Neo
It has been long announced that AMD was coming out with newer processors, but in doing some research, I see that not much has been posted about these two processors.
There has been a new war when it comes to micro processors such as the Intel Atom or the ARM processors, but it is not well known about the AMD version of the micro processors. Both processors are known as the Athlon Neo and the Turion Neo. Even though it sounds confusing, the Turion processor is almost the same but offers a larger cache. In a similar comparison such as the Pentium Chip and Celeron Chip. Both chips run at 1.6 GHz and are offered on HP laptops. Checking the HP website, it is not directly shown, but can be seen on some of the 12 inch models.
This is interesting because mobility is the new wave of the future and ultimately two of the companies will be neck and neck. The ARM processor has been around for awhile and commonly seen in PDAs. With ARM processors reaching 600mhz and in some cases up to 1 GHz, Intel and AMD are both nervous. Now what’s interesting about Intel and AMD is that they both offer the processors as dual processors. So rather than cranking up the speeds, they both are smart in using dual processors rather than one faster one which will generate more heat. The new Intel Atom Dual Processor is capable of speeds of up to 1.66 GHz.
In the end, it’s best to browse through and get relative information in selecting a product for yourself because with each new generation of mobile and micro processors, they will all compete to death in the ever growing mobile world.
