Message Forwarding on the IPhone

Published by MobilePro97 under IPhone

I was so glad that Apple has finally allowed text messages to be forwarded on the IPhone 3.0 operating system. At first, it was difficult to find because I did not know exactly what to do, but pressing the button in the upper right corner seemed to the trick. Not complaining much at all, but somewhat suprised that it has taken Apple this long to enable such a feature. In receving a text message in what building to teach a class, it was much easier to forward to my coworker rather than always writing the message down as I had to do in the past. How do you feel in using the new feature?

IPhone Failure over WM7?

Published by MobilePro97 under Windows Mobile

I was reading an article from: http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/23744 and throughout the article, they speak of how Window Mobile 7 will kill the IPhone as Windows has always done in the past.

I’ll admit that I’m an avid Windows User, but have thought constantly switching to an Apple Computer even with lower tech specs. I am tired of the random crashes and hangups. I have always defended Windows Mobile 6.1 along with the PDA series in the past. What has changed my mind was while using WM 6.1, I had to fix the registry for the phone to work correctly. I kept getting the battery low warning which ironically kept draining the batter and had to restore my crashed phone a few times. I went into best buy and played with the IPod Touch, refusing to look at it before in the past. Knowing how Windows crashes along with a phone that had barely any applications, I decided out of impulse to put my Alltel HTC Pro on EBay and purchased an IPhone.

I do not see Windows Mobile 7 winning a drastic battle in the beginning. As we all know, technology shifts over time and it could go either way. Now in reading that article, they showed how MS Word can be used with the zooming features that Apple had created and how your camera can detect your phone being in your pocket and shutting off the phone. For people who have been frustrated with Windows in general, most will not switch… not including me.  Right now I have an Intel i7 processor, 6GB of 1066mhz ram, a 4850 radeon graphics card and guess what? The stupid CPU crashes on simple things.

Ever since I have used the IPhone, I twitter, surf the Internet and actually don’t mind paying AT&T’s ridiculous plan because I actually use the Internet a lot. My bluetooth has synced wonderful compared to WM phones and best of all, the battery is awesome (even though people complain about that on the iPhone, much better than WM phones).

Microsoft needs to take some advice in that yes, innovations such as word on the phone is great and yes… the camera detecting the light is awesome, but you will only win with reliability with an actual working phone. Look, WM 6.5 will be coming out shortly and guess what, WM7 mobile will be brought out way to far for me to even think off. The forever development WM7 reminds of Vista and I’m not happy about Vista… even on my powerful desktop.

I do have to hand it to Apple to in keeping the prices of applications low and for great products, but you need to be careful because people have to jailbreak their phones, do mini hacks to create their own ring-tones, and finally we are able to cut and paste in 3.0. Do not become like Microsoft and become a useless and lagging company. Offer what the users want. WM7 will not crush the IPhone. The IPhone can only crush itself if it does not stay on top of it’s game and that how WM7 can only win.
